2018-19 Ski Season Progress Report as of November 11, 2018

Colorado had some early snow opening Wolf Creek October 13 and assisting the Loveland and A-Basin openings a week later. In early November it snowed across the northern Rockies but strongest around the Continental Divide in Colorado. It will be mostly dry over most of the West for at least the next week. Wolf Creek has the most open terrain, followed by Breckenridge.

California: There has been no snow so far and the short term forecast remains dry. Mt. Rose has opened its 200 vertical beginner lift occasionally since Oct. 19. Mammoth delayed its snowmaking opening from Nov. 8 to Nov. 10 and has just one run open.

Pacific Northwest: The region had just a few inches in October and almost none so far in November. There is a base in the Whistler alpine but much less than usual for mid-November.

Canadian Rockies and Interior B.C.: There has been widespread scattered snowfall in both October and early November. November totals and base depths: Big White (25 inches, 28 inches), Revelstoke (34, 29.5), Kicking Horse (24, 24), Fernie (17, 12). Lake Louise has one run open on snowmaking and 10 inches natural snow. Sunshine is 18% open on a 27 inch base. Its snowfall including October is not shown but probably totals about 4 feet.

U. S. Northern Rockies: Grand Targhee has a 29 inch base and 23 inches of November snowfall. Mid-mountain Jackson Hole has a 31 inch base and 26 inches of November snowfall. November snowfall has been 4 inches at Schweitzer and 10 inches at Brundage. In Montana Discovery is 21% open on an 18-24 inch base with 48 inches total snowfall.

Utah: Utah had 2+ feet of early October snow that mostly melted out over the next two weeks. Early November snowfall in the Cottonwood Canyons has totalled 8-12 inches.

Northern and Central Colorado: Cold early October weather and scattered snow allowed Loveland and A-Basin to open October 19. In late October/early November it snowed 4+ feet along the Continental Divide with lesser amounts farther west. Snow totals since late October, base depths and percents open: Breckenridge (53, 30, 17%), Loveland (51, 27, 12%), Keystone (38, 20, 3%). A-Basin is 15% open on a 24 inch base. All of these percents open are above average for Thanksgiving, though little additional snow is expected before then.

Southern and Western Colorado: Wolf Creek opened October 13 after a 30-inch storm. After the early November snow Wolf's season total is now 58 inches and it is 90% open on a 25-27 inch base. The Rocky Mountain Biological Lab at Gothic (between Crested Butte and Aspen) has had 11 inches season snowfall since late October, Crested Butte 10 inches, Telluride 11 inches and Purgatory 1 inch.

Northeast: Killington and Sunday River opened on snowmaking October 19. November snow totals: Le Massif 27 inches, Wildcat 22 inches (10% open), Sugarbush 11 inches, Killington 6 inches (4% open), Whiteface 3 inches. Sunday River is 3% open.
