There was some snow in the Northwest and some of the Rockies in early to mid-October. However, the past 2 weeks have been warm and dry, so no one has a meaningful jump on the season yet.
California: There is no natural snow yet, but Mammoth started making snow last week.
Pacific Northwest: There was high elevation snow in mid-October but nothing more recent.
Canadian Rockies and Interior B.C.: Snowmaking is underway at Lake Louise for a limited
opening next week.
U. S. Northern Rockies: No info yet.
Utah: The Cottonwood Canyons had up to 4 feet of snow in mid-October, bringing out substantial
numbers of backcountry skiers Oct. 21. But the with ensuing warm and dry weather Brighton did not
open for lift service as in the biggest Octobers like 2004.
Northern and Central Colorado: Loveland received 22 inches snow in October and has 105 acres
as of Nov. 4. Copper has 4 runs open and A-Basin and Keystone 2 runs each. Unlike last year there has
not been enough natural snow to increase odds yet for a better than normal holiday season.
Southern and Western Colorado: No info yet.
Northeast: Sunday River made enough snow for a "marketing opening" on Halloween. But they do not
plan to reopen until Nov. 9.
