A pretty good day, considering there is zero natural snow base. Mt. High has no snowmaking coverage in areas such as Olympic Bowl, Gunslinger and Inferno Ridge and these areas are totally bare. However, the 70% or so of runs open are very well groomed and maintained by new management. Conditions are very springlike, but with low January sun most runs didn't get that slushy. At any given time, about half the runs would have an enjoyable spring surface. Vertigo was the only run that stayed hard all day. Terrain parks were well designed for big air once the snow softened.

Crowds were not bad for a weekend, which is fortunate since traffic would chew up this kind of snow pretty fast. Although only a handful of dirt spots appeared, the base is fairly thin, and they will be in trouble if they get a week when it's too warm to make snow at night.
