Sunday at 9AM everything was still frozen solid, with strong winds on chairs 1-3. Chair 2 softened about 10AM, but other areas not until 11:30. They let Ch. 1 run until 2:30. There was less wind up on 23 than on the lower chairs. The 4 dry months have left some unusual coverage patterns. Wipe Out is the only entrance open west of Ch. 23, yet coverage from Drop Out through Climax is deep enough to last to July 4 if they want. Broadway should last another week or two.

Monday was a more normal spring day: Chair 2 soft by 9AM, with good snow up top by 10AM. The top was great until we left at 1PM. After sliding halfway down Drop Out Sunday, I had Footloose sharpen the skis for Monday, but conditions were also much nicer. Grade Sunday 5 and Monday 7.

Major lift enhancements are coming next year. Chair 18 has been removed and will be relocated to make 5 a triple. Similarly, Chair 2 will be relocated to make 3 a quad. Then a high speed quad will be built to replace 2 and 18. It will end high enough to provide access to 23 and St. Anton. The upcoming construction may cause Mammoth to close earlier than July 4.
